SKANDIA - Walter W. Labhart, 66, of 823 County Road 545 North, Skandia, entered eternal life Tuesday morning, Nov. 10, 2009 at Marquette General Hospital.

Born Nov. 27, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, a son of Walter H. and Dorothy (Haines) Labhart, Walter was raised in Chicago. In 1960 he graduated from the Milwaukee Lutheran High School and later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ripon College in Ripon, Wisc. He served in the US Air Force in aircraft maintenance at several Air Force Bases around the world, being honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. After his Air Force career, he taught mathematics at Northern Michigan University as assistant professor. Walter was very devoted to his entire family and treasured the time spent with his grandchildren. Other interests included working with computers, cooking, photography, and spending time in nature hunting and fishing. He was a member of the NRA and Phi Kappa Phi.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda (Purcell) Labhart; his daughter, Wynne E. Labhart of Menasha, Wisc.; two sons, Walter I. Labhart of Madison, Wisc. and Wayland and Nissa Labhart of Richlands, N.C.; two grandchildren, Jordanna Rebbeck and Liam Labhart of Richlands, N.C.; his mother, Dorothy Labhart; a sister, Diane Labhart of Bradenton, Fla.; his uncle, Bill Labhart of Webb City, Mo.; and cousin, Billy Labhart of San Jose, Calif. Walter was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call at the Swanson Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
