Tribute planned for ex-NMU prof

MARQUETTE -A tribute former Northern Michigan University instructor Hal Dorf will be held on Sept. 25 in the University Center at NMU. Dorf and his wife, Arlene, will also participate in NMU's homecoming parade at 5:30 p.m. that day.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail social, where the Dorfs will greet guests. A cash bar will be available. Dinner will be at 7 p.m., followed by a ceremony and a roast of Dorf featuring Edward Havlik, former chairman of NMU's board of directors, Dr. James Surrell of the Marquette General Health System Digestive Health Clinic and Matthew Surrell, former vice president of NMU public relations, as well as several international guests. The event will conclude with a social at 9:30 p.m., featuring music by Lou Vargo and Alton Kelly.

Dinner tickets must be purchased in advance: online at www.HalDorf.com or by mail, with a check payable to Sigma One Group sent to Sigma One Group, P.O. Box 68, Neenah, WI 54957-0068. Admission to the ceremony, roast and social are free, but attendees are asked to register at www.HalDorf.com.
