Edward F. Schultz

ISHPEMING - Edward Frank Schultz, age 59, of 343 North Basin Drive, Negaunee Township, died peacefully at 2:32 p.m. at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., surrounded by his loving family. Edward had been battling cancer since diagnosed in March.

Ed was born Aug. 29, 1949, in Ironwood to Alvin and Lucille (Anderson) Schultz, and was an Ishpeming resident since 1965. He was a graduate of Ishpeming High School Class of 1969. He worked for CCI for 35 years, including 10 years at the Mather B Mine, and he retired from the Tilden Mine in 2004. Following his retirement from CCI he was a bus driver for Marq-Tran for three years.

Edward was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He loved activity with people, especially his family and friends, and life on the Dead River Basin. He also enjoyed his grandchildren's sporting events.

He is survived by his wife Colleen (Peterson) Schultz, whom he married on Jan. 20, 1968. Also surviving are his children: Scott (Nicole Sharon) Schultz of Ishpeming, Shelly (Bradley) Johnson of Negaunee, Jason (Heather) Schultz of Kearney, Mo.; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Brittany and Brooke Schultz, Charissa and Dylan Johnson and Teagan Schultz; his mother, Lucille (Marvin) Preussler of Kendrick, Idaho; one brother, Alvin (Sandy) Schultz of Marquette; two sisters, Marie (John) Fink of Rudyard, Deborah Arnestad of Three Lakes, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Timothy Schultz.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Dennie J. Korpi officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Koskey Funeral Home.
