Globe downs Gallery; VFW defeats Mullins

In the W.I.N. Softball League, Globe Printing defeated the Portrait Gallery, 21-14. Taylor Giroux had five hits, including a homerun, while Chandra Hintsala added five hits with a triple and Chelsea Belanger had six hits with a triple. Portrait Gallery's Nicole Ball had a homerun and Erin Carlson had a pair of homers.

V.F.W. beat Mullins Service, 30-4. Randi Boule, Nikki Schultz, and Cassy Sandberg each hit a homer. Kaylin Marshall, Boule, and Sandberg each went 4-for-4. Amber Salo knocked a home run for Mullins.

V.F.W. also defeated Jubilee Foods, 18-2. Tia Dobson had three homers, Sandberg added two homers and Josie Mashburn had a homerun.

Super One edged Portrait Gallery, 12-10. Sarah Massie went 3-for-4 with a triple, while Ashton Kirchoff hit 4-for-4 with two homers and Taryn Moyle added two hits with a home run. For Portrait Gallery, Morgan Skewis hit 3-for-3 with a double and Sarah Tresedder also added a double.

The Tri-Township Lions defeated Mullins Service, 21-9. Kinsie Bertucci had a pair of triples, Hannah Bertucci knocked out a homerun and Brooke Ranta added two homers.

The Lions also topped Jubilee Foods, 13-9. Desiree Tousignant went 3-for-3, and Taylor Gray hit a home run for Jubilee.

Iron Range Women's

Softball League

In the Iron Range Women's Softball League's Class A division, Paisano's topped Republic Memorials 6-4, with Tina Nelson leading the way with two hits, including a two-run home run. Teammate Michelle Turri added two hits of her own. Leading the way for Republic Memorials were Dana Grasso and Angela Bertucci, each with two hits.

Doghouse Pub slammed Teepee Bar 18-3 in five mercy-shortened innings led by Alyssa Hallum's 4-for-4 performance with a home run, and Megan Reilly going 4-for-4. Teammate Kara Havel was 3-for-4.

Hickey's more than doubled up Jean Kay's 11-5 with Caylie Gray homering and Julie Boule hitting a triple for the winners. Brandi Logan homered for Jean Kay's in the loss.

PC Medic's Carla Lemmon tripled to score the winning runs in the team's 9-5 win over Buck's Party Store. Teammates Tammy Karp and Sue Sparks each went 3-for-4 to pace the winners. Libby Nelson was 2-for-3 with two runs for the losers.

Jubliee Foods crushed I-Build Construction 16-8 led by Staci Kruse going 4-for-5 and teammate Sandy Cittadino batting 3-for-4. I-Build was led by Rashael Salbert and Heidi Verville, who each went 3-for-4.

Jasper Ridge Brewery had the bye.

In Class B action, Paradise Bar pounded Eastwood 25-10 in five innings. Maria Stanaway (3-for-3), Sara Martin (3-for-4) and Kathy Maynard (2-for-3) each had home runs for the winners. Danielle Murray was tops for Eastwood, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and teammate Nicole Briggs was 2-for-3 with a double.

Pasquali's topped Tino's 2 20-19 in extra innings, led by Kelly Denofre's grand-slam home run and five total RBI on the day. Teammate Melissa Hall was 3-for-4. Tino's was led by Rachel Argall and Shannon Terres, who each hit dingers.

Rookies Too/Quality Car Care snuck by Country Lanes 15-13, despite Country Lanes' Jessica Shepich going 2-for-3 with five RBI and leading all hitters. Rookies Too was led by Michelle Lammi (3-for-3) and Carley Pepin (2-for-3).

Nikki Marshall helped Country Lanes' cause by batting 3-for-4.

Jasper Ridge Brewery 2 shutout Tino's 24 22-0. Tera Bell and Joyce Bussiere were each 3-for-3, with Bell adding a home run and Bussiere hitting a double and triple. April Coron had two hits for the losers.

Jack's Teepee tripled Company B Graphics 15-5, with the game dedicated to Clayton Maki and family. Christy Connors had a triple and three RBI to lead Jack's, while Jamie Caliguri hit a double for Company B.

Zephyr Store pulled the hair of Sister's 16-1, led by Sam Zamesnik going 4-for-4 and Jessica Collins hitting 3-for-4.

In Class C Mather Nursing Center received three home runs from Jen Rajala to defeat Casino Bar 21-6 by the mercy rule. Sue Luokkala led Casino Bar, hitting 3-for-3.

Rookies 1 got by Barr's Bar 6-4. Janine Chapman and Dini Peterson led the winners by each hitting a double. Heather Veiht hit a double for the losers.

Bjork & Zhulkie's Kathy Gischia pitched well enough to earn the win, in her team's 17-13 victory against Signs Unlimited. Teammate Katie Korpi slammed a home run and Mary Ann Farley and Becky Korpi each went 3-for-4 at the plate to help Bjork & Zhulkie's cause. Liz Lenton (4-for-5) and Rebecca LaChapelle (3-for-4) led the charge for the losers.

Tino's 1 slammed the door on Chapper's Pub 28-12, with Gerry Pillow, Kristi DeCaire and Amy Bazinette each hitting doubles for the winners. Teammate Ashley Juchemich added a triple. Carley Madgwich and Mandy Carlson had home runs for the losers.

Dave's Coll/Strength & Fitness doubled up Needle & Thread 10-5, with Jaime Roose's grand-slam home run and Amy Anderson's three RBI leading the way for the winners. Josie Caya played well at catcher for the losers, while Valerie Prusi proved to be fantastic at shortstop.

Oberstar squashed Rumorz Bar in the final game, 16-6. Lisa Plis was the winning pitcher and had five strikeouts; Plis added a 3-for-4 showing at the plate to help her cause. Teammate Francise Higgins batted home five runs for the winners. For Rumorz, Kristi Junak was 3-for-3 with two RBI.
