Robert James Lancour

MARQUETTE - Robert James Lancour, 74, of 415 Lost Creek Drive, Marquette, entered eternal life Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at his home.

Bob was born May 7, 1936, in Escanaba, a son of Henry and Valerie (Pepin) Lancour. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed in Germany. Bob spent a good part of his life in Louisiana. Throughout the years, he had been employed as a house painter and as a laborer on oil rigs. He enjoyed writing poems and singing.

Survivors include his children, Kevin, Stephanie and Valerie, and their children; his sisters Lois (Leonard) Blondeau of Gwinn, Arlene (Charles) Button of Hemet, Calif., and Janet Benson of Marquette; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lancour of Carlshend and Elizabeth Lancour of Skandia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald, Harvey, Herbert and Henry Lancour; and a sister-in-law, Alva Lancour.

A memorial service will be held at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lawrence Gauthier officiating. Inurnment will be made in the Forsyth Township Cemetery, Gwinn.
