Softball League

Junior League

The Elks Lodge defeated Cliffs Natural Resources, 19-5. Brianna Aho hit a grand slam homer and Emily Liquia went 4-for-4.

Jubilee Foods came out ahead of Dan Perkins Construction, 16-11. Brittney Nardi had a home run and Shea Blewett contributed with a great double play in the field.

For Perkins, Elaina Treloar had a double play and a home run.

The Elks Lodge topped Woody's Auto, 17-7. Emily Liquia had a triple and Katie Harrison went 2-for-2.

For Woodys, Morgan Burnside had a home run.

Senior League

V.F.W. defeated Globe Printing, 32-6. Nicolette Schultz hit five home runs and Caylie Gray went 5-for-5 with a home run as well. Randi Boule, Alison Taras and Kaylin Marshall all went 5-for-5 at the plate.

Super One Foods topped Globe Printing, 14-6. Cassidee Kudis went 3-for-3 with a grand slam, Cortney Caliguri belted a home run and teammates Sara Delongchamp, Marina Nault, and Taryn Moyle went 3-for-3.

For Globe, Taylor Giroux went 3-for-3, while Rachel Nicholas and Katie Johns went 2-for-4 and each added a triple.

Mullins knocked off Jubilee Foods, 7-6. Amber Salo went 3-for-3 with a home run and Morgan Blewett hit a triple.

For Jubilee, Jordann Grigg, Taylor Gray, and Whitney Barry went 2-for-3.

Iron Range

Women's Softball

In Class A play of the Iron Range Women's Softball League, Elyssa Hallum was 3-for-4 with a home run and Eryn Hallum went 3-for-3 to lead Doghouse Pub to a 16-5 victory over Republic Memorials.

Teepee Bar squeaked by Jasper Ridge Brewery 8-7 behind 2-for-3 plate performances from Nicole Christensen and Jen Laurila. Christensen added a home run. Dany Hedin led Jasper Ridge, going 2-for-3 with a double.

Hickey's topped I-Build Construction 11-3 led by Nancy Spencer's flawless 3-for-3 hitting. Annette Gleason and Collene Froberg turned a double play for I-Build.

PC Medic took down Jean Kay's 18-3, with Emily Rowe (3-for-4) and Bree Taylor (2-for-3) leading the way. Jean Kay's was led by Stephanie Robar's triple and Heagen Hennekens hitting 1-for-2.

Buck's Party Store received two hits apiece from Libby Nelson, Janet Koski, Abbie Watters and Katie Williams en route to a 9-6 victory over Paisanos. Williams' two hits were each triples. Leading Paisanos were Tina Nelson (3-for-3) and Ann Wilder (triple).

Jubilee Foods had a bye week.

In Class B play Company B Graphics lit up the scoreboard to the tune of 24 runs, topping Eastwood 24-10. Thalicia Gray (triple, double) and Jamie Caliguri (double) were each 4-for-4 and Taylor Giroux was 3-for-3 with a triple for Company B. Cherie Johnson hit the lone home run for Company B. Eastwood was led by Ellen Sundberg who hit a double and turned a double play.

Sister's snuck by Tino's 24, 7-6. Cindy Hogan and Leah Dompierre each wrapped triples for the winners, while Jess Rice was 3-for-3 for the losers.

Country Lanes' Julie Miron and Linda Carello each went 4-for-4 to lead Country Lanes over Jack's Teepee 12-8. Miron added two doubles and a home run, while Carello had a triple. Jordann Grigg and Christy Connors each had home runs for Jack's.

Pasquali's defeated Jasper Ridge Brewery 2 13-10. Kelly Denofre was 2-for-3 with a triple to lead Pasquali's, while Diana Sundberg hit a home run and had four RBIs for the losers.

Rookies Too/Quality Car Care more than tripled Tino's 2, 21-6 with triples from Maria Ruesing, Shelly Kontio and Connie Kontio. Shannon Terres had a triple and Rachel Argall a double to lead Tino's 2.

Zephyr Store and Paradise Bar scored nearly 50 runs between the two teams, as Zephyr won 24-23. Veronica Slone was 5-for-6 with a home run and Nicole Schultz was 4-for-5 with a home run for Zephyr, while Tonya Ruokolainen was 3-for-4 with a triple and Heather Nelson went 4-for-4.

In Class C action, Dave's Collision-Strength & Fitness won 16-15 in extra innings over Signs Unlimited. Shelley Beerling hit a home run to force extra innings for the winners, while teammates Vicki Myers (2-for-3) and Jaime Roose (home run and grand-slam home run) added to the Dave's Collision's win. Emily Garceau and Bethany Collins were each 4-for-4 for Signs Unlimited.

Casino Bar doubled up Barr's Bar 12-6 with Heather Luokkala's home run leading the way. Teammates Jess Ayotte and Tracy Mitchell were each 3-for-3 for the winners, with Ayotte adding two doubles and Mitchell a triple. Sheri Hewitt hit a home run for Barr's Bar.

Tino's 1 defeated Bjork & Zhulkie in a close one 22-21. Kristi DeCaire and Chynna Bjork were each 5-for-5 for Tino's, while Jen Palomaki was 5-for-5 with two home runs for the losers and teammate Mary Ann Farley was 4-for-4 with two home runs.

Chapper's Pub squashed Rumorz Bar 21-3 led by triples from Micailly Carlson and Debbie Richards.

Oberstar's Tracy Klumb was 4-for-5 with a triple and home run in the team's 15-8 win over Mather Nursing Center. Teammate Janet Ely was 3-for-5, and Hilary Richardson's triple led the losers.

Rookies 1 got home runs from Amber Billings and Nancy Laine in the 25-8 win over Needle & Thread. Lindsey Walters (two RBI) and Valerie Prusi (3 RBI) led the way for the losers.
