BARAGA - Two Ishpeming men were injured when the car they were riding in struck an immature bull moose in Baraga County Sunday night.
Michigan State Police troopers from the L'Anse post said the crash occurred at 10:30 p.m. along U.S. 41, south of Alberta in L'Anse Township.
Jason Kutchie, 31, was driving a 1996 Oldsmobile northbound when the crash occurred. Wayne Oien, 52, was a passenger in the vehicle.
Police said Kutchie and Oien were both injured in the accident and taken to Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L'Anse by Bay Ambulance.
A hospital spokeswoman said Kutchie was treated in the emergency room at the hospital in L'Anse and then released to home.
Oien was transferred to Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, where a hospital spokeswoman said he was listed in stable condition this morning.
Police said the moose was removed from the accident scene by a conservation officer from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Deputies from the Baraga County Sheriff's Department and Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police responded to the crash with state police. L'Anse Fire and Rescue personnel assisted troopers with the incident.
