SPREAD EAGLE, Wis., - An Iron Mountain man was killed in an apparent stabbing which took place early Saturday morning in Spread Eagle, Wis.
According to a press release from the Florence County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a 911 call around 12:12 a.m. reporting a bar fight at Saloon No. 2. When officers and EMS personnel arrived they found a 41-year-old man dead from a stab wound received during the bar fight, police said.
The suspect, a 40-year-old Iron Mountain man, fled the scene but was taken into custody three hours later at a residence in Iron Mountain, according to police. He is currently being lodged in the Dickinson County Correctional Center pending extradition to Wisconsin, officials said.
Names are being held pending notification of family and formal charges being filed against the suspect.
The Florence County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Marinette County Sheriff's Office, Dickinson County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police and other agencies. The incident remains under investigation.
