MSHS kickers lose

POSTED: August 28, 2008

TRAVERSE CITY - The Redmen scored first, but the Marquette Senior High School boys soccer team absorbed its first loss of the season while playing host Traverse City Central on Wednesday.

The Trojans won, 2-1, dropping Marquette's record to 3-1-1 on the year.

Dan Menze put the Redmen on the board in the game's fifth minute with an assist from Josh Koski, but Central's Trevor Osborne answered with a pair of first-half goals.

Central held on in the second half and improved to 2-1-1 on the year.

"It was really a tough game," MSHS coach Charlie Kelley said. "We had a couple of people out due to injuries to start out with. And we lost Greg Larson, one of our starting backs, to a head injury.

"I wish this game came at a different time for us."
