Jean Helen Garceau

NEGAUNEE - Jean Helen Garceau, age 86, of 387 County Road, Negaunee, passed away at 12:35 PM on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 surrounded by her loving family and wonderful caring staff at Eastwood Nursing Center where she had been a resident since October of 2005.

Jean was born August 29, 1921, in Ishpeming to William and Florence 'Nanny' Quayle, was raised in North Lake, attended Ishpeming High School and was a life long area resident.

Mrs. Garceau was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and everyone enjoyed her homemade pasties and caramel bars. She also enjoyed her special Wednesday shopping trips with her daughter Barbara and sisters-in-law Marguerite and Marie.

Surviving are her children: Terry (Sara) Garceau of Negaunee, Barbara (James) Miller of Marquette, Robert (Betsy) Kallatsa, Sr. of Sebring, FL, Jim (Jan) Garceau of Georgetown, TX, grandchildren: Emily Garceau, Abby Garceau, Dianne Miller, Michael Miller, Richard Miller, Robert Kallatsa, Jr., Steven Kallatsa, Brenda (Kallatsa) Garceau, Bradley Kallatsa, Tom Garceau, Carla (Garceau) Allen, Tony Garceau, brothers: James 'Chirp' (Jean) Quayle of Ishpeming, Douglas Quayle of Marquette, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 38 years, William 'Billy' Garceau on July 28, 1999, 2 brothers, Donald and Harold Quayle, 2 sisters: Mildred Gustafson and Myrtle Hawke, 2 sisters-in-law: Marguerite and Marie Quayle, and a daughter-in-law, Vivian Kallatsa.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Dale R. Niskanen, pastor of Eastwood Apostolic Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
