ISHPEMING - Former Ishpeming resident Michael Perry and his new bride, Trycia, are scheduled to be featured on The Learning Channel tonight.
The couple's first dance at their wedding reception is featured on TLC's new program, "Rock the Reception." The program will air at 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. today and again on Friday at the same times.
The reception was filmed by a TLC crew in Dana Point, Calif.
Michael Perry served three tours of Iraq with the U.S. Marine Corps and returned home to face another battle: His bride-to-be had developed cancer and was told there was no cure, said Michael's mother, Vickie Perry of Ishpeming.
"They persevered and after several treatments, have new hope," Vickie Perry said. "Their story was made known to the casting crew who elected to film their celebration."
According to TLC's Web site, "Rock the Reception" puts a couple's first dance on television. The site said: "Engaged couples team up with top notch choreographers who will turn their first dance into an unforgettable production number."
TLC's listing for the show states, "Trycia and Mike perform an unexpected first dance to 'U Can't Touch This' in order to help guests focus on the wedding celebration rather than Trycia's illness."
