Tendercare earns state award

Tendercare Munising has received a state award related to its care in pain management. The Michigan Peer Review Organization awarded Tendercare a 2007 Michigan Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Nursing Home Setting. The award was presented during an April 2 luncheon held in Lansing. Seated from left are Pam McKenna, Tendercare Munising administrator, and Cindy McDonald, regional director for Extendicare, the company that recently acquired Tendercare. Standing from left are Colleen Cieszkowski, MPRO interim CEO and president; Jonathan Nagel, Extendicare area vice president; Wendy Ehnis, Extendicare area director of clinical services; and Donna Beebe, MPRO project manager for Nursing Home Quality Improvement. MPRO cited Tendercare for improving the quality and safety of care in reducing pressure ulcers, identifying and reducing pain, reducing physical restraints and identifying and managing depression.
