Police probe possible drowning

ONTONAGON — Sheriff’s deputies and a dive team are searching today for a person missing after a boating accident on Lake Gogebic Thursday.


According to the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office, the accident was reported at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday. Two people, who have not been identified further by police, were in a boat in the Bergland Bay area of the lake when one of them fell out and did not surface, police said.


Officers responded to the accident and began a search, which is ongoing this morning. The Michigan State Police dive team and officers from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are assisting in the search.
