Boy, 5 dies in accident

NATIONAL MINE — A 5-year-old boy died of injuries after being hit by a travel trailer at a Tilden Township residence Tuesday.


Troopers from the Negaunee post of the Michigan State Police are investigating the accident, which happened at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.


The boy was in the yard of a National Mine residence when he was struck by a travel trailer being towed by another vehicle at the residence, police said. The boy was taken to Marquette General Hospital by Bell EMS, where he later died from his injuries.


Police said they are not identifying the boy or driver at this time, and the incident was still being investigated at press time.
