Garice J. Trembath

NEGAUNEE — Garice J. (Kulju) Trembath, age 73, of 633 Mitchell Ave., Negaunee, died at 9:28 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, where she had been a patient since February 2004. 


Garice was born May 13, 1934, in Negaunee to Arthur and Gladys (Bess) Moore, was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1953, and was a lifelong area resident. She worked for the Ishpeming Public Schools as a secretary at Birchview School for 15 years, retiring in 1986.


Mrs. Trembath was a member of Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee, and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines, the Ishpeming Choral Chorale and PAAC. She enjoyed spending time at the family camp on the Dead River Basin and traveling throughout the Upper Peninsula. She loved to attend sporting events, concerts and anything that her children and grandchildren were involved in.


Surviving are her sons, Roger (Lauri) Kulju of Ishpeming, Reynold (Ann) Kulju of Ishpeming and Ronald (Marian) Kulju of Albuquerque, N.M.; 8 grandchildren, Michael, Nicole, Christopher, Stephen, Kathryn Kulju, Jason (Megan) Kulju, Rachel (Ryan) Johnson and Marc Sorrell; 6 great-grandchildren, Kierstin Berg, J.J. Kulju, Hayley Johnson, Riley Johnson, Makenna Kulju and Mallory Kulju; 3 stepsons, James Milton (Renae) Trembath of Promise City, Iowa, John Preston (Joyce) Trembath of Mount Pleasant and Jeffrey Lynn (Jean) Trembath of Calumet; 2 stepdaughters, Yvanne (Paul) Hiltunen of Mohawk and Jana Kay (David) Hayden of Cheboygan; and 10 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Hugo Kulju, on Nov. 5, 1992; her second husband, John James Trembath, on March 2, 2008; and an infant daughter, Vicki, in 1955.


Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee, with the Rev. Eric Kieb officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, May 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the church, and at a reception in the church hall following the service.
