Peter R. Juidici
GWINN — Peter R. Juidici, age 81, of 285 N. Bertrand Lake, Gwinn, died Monday afternoon, May 5, 2008, at his home following a several month illness.
Peter was born February 16, 1927, in Princeton to Louis and Angelina (Aschaker) Juidici, and was a graduate of Gwinn High School, Class of 1945. He moved to Negaunee in 1950 and following his retirement, he lived in Gwinn for the past 20 years. Pete was employed by the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company and had worked at all company properties in Marquette County. He retired as an electrician at the Brownstone Shops in 1988 with 42 years of service with the company.
Mr. Juidici was a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, and the Negaunee Elks Lodge. He was an Honorary Member of the Negaunee Fire Department with 25 years of service. He retired from the department as Assistant Chief in 1983. He was a member of the Negaunee Knights of Columbus Horseshoe Team since 1963. Following his retirement he developed a passion for golf and was a member of the Red Fox Run Golf Club. He was proud of playing rounds where he scored his age at both 79 and 80 years old. Pete also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and making cudighi and salami.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine M. (Hill), whom he married April 15, 1950; a daughter, Catherine (Albert) Pirkola of Kingsford; 2 sons, Robert (Patricia) Juidici of Negaunee and Richard Juidici of Gwinn; 5 grandchildren, Erin Pirkola of Marquette, Robert Pirkola of Kingsford, and Taryn, Anthony and Angelina Juidici, all of Negaunee; two sisters, Antoinette “Toni” Johnson and Rena (Robert) Koskey, both of Negaunee; three sisters-in-law, Ida Juidici and Merle Juidici, both of Gwinn, and Carmen Juidici of Ishpeming; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers, Angelo, Alex “Chippy,” Raymond “Dick,” William “Pesto,” Battista “Binda,” Egedio “Jitters” and John Juidici; and 4 sisters, Matilda Arcand, Letishia Racine, Geraldine Robare and Mary Kemp.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Koskey Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Heikkila officiating. Burial will be in the Gwinn Cemetery. The family will greet family and friends from 3 p.m. until the time of services at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
