NMU track team opens GLIAC meet
UNIVERSITY CENTER — The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference outdoor track and field championships started with preliminaries on Thursday at Saginaw Valley State University, near downstate Saginaw.
Northern Michigan University’s women’s track and field team picked up some top-10 finishes.
NMU senior Danielle St. Onge (Marquette) took seventh place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.31 seconds.
Leslie Luehmann, of Ishpeming, jumped 16-feet-7§-inches to take ninth place in the long jump in front of St. Onge.
Natalie Bertucci (Ishpeming), claimed ninth place in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.79.
Kaylee Laakso (Champion/Westwood) took a sixth place finish in the 400 dash in 1:00.19.
Senior Danielle Stein took a fifth place finish, the highest for the Wildcats on the day, in the 10,000 run with a time of 40:36.58.
Senior Callie Boik claimed eighth place in the javelin throw with a distance of 117-1.
