ORANGEVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say an 81-year-old woman found dead after an overnight house fire is one of several people to die in recent days in separate blazes around Michigan.
The Kalamazoo Gazette reports the body of Wanda Cooper was found after fire crews and Barry County deputies responded to a 911 call about 1:40 a.m. Thursday in Orangeville Township, about 35 miles south of Grand Rapids. The cause wasn't immediately known.
Early Wednesday, a 73-year-old man died when fire swept through his mobile home in Berrien County's Benton Township in southwestern Michigan. The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph reports Robert L. James Sr. was found in a back bedroom.
On Tuesday, 51-year-old Steven Smith and 47-year-old Thomas Smith died as a result of a fire at an Ionia County mobile home.
