Angling for the sublime

MARQUETTE — The snow has begun to melt and ice covered lakes are getting thinner every day. For fishermen that can mean only one thing, spring fishing is finally here. As the spring thaw starts fisherman everywhere are getting prepared. As soon as they can, fishermen are hitting the harbors. Many fisherman have been seen in Lake Superior in boats or fishing along walls in the harbors recently. For the harbors this is the perfect time of the year for fishing. “There were about ten boats in the harbor this morning (Wednesday). It starts to get pretty busy from here on out,” said Gander Mountain Fishing Manager Kirk Bott. “Right now most fishermen are looking to catch coho in the harbors,” he said. Weather conditions have been beautiful for fishing. “Even if the fishing isn’t all that great, it is nice to get out. Its really nice to be able to get out and finally cast a line,” he said. Another choice in spring fishing is stream and river fishing.
