Man dies in boating accident
SAULT STE. MARIE — One elderly downstate man died Sunday and another was critically injured in a boating accident on Lake Huron’s Potagnnissing Bay. The names of those involved were expected to be released later today by Chippewa County Sheriff’s deputies. The accident was reported at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday. County dispatchers sent emergency personnel from Drummond Island EMS, Detour EMS, Kinross EMS and the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department to an area northwest of Drummond Island in the bay. Two male subjects, both from the Cheboygan area, were transported from the scene to War Memorial Hospital. There, one of the two men, a 79-year-old, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The second man, a 76-year-old, was transferred to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, where he was listed in critical condition, according to sheriff’s deputies.

STEPHENSON — A Norway woman is in serious condition in a Green Bay hospital after an ATV accident Sunday in Menominee County.
Sarah and Melissa Girard, both 23, of Norway, were injured in an ATV rollover at about 7:15 p.m.
