MARQUETTE — Renovations to Marquette Senior High School’s Hart Stadium began this week. The $375,000 project — which includes construction of a new concession and lavatory building, a ticketing booth and lighted patio areas — will be funded from the district’s capital projects fund, according to district officials. “This project has been a long time coming,” Superintendent Jon Hartwig said. “Marquette has an exemplary athletic program that will be made even better through improved concessions and lavatory facilities.” Board President Al Hawker said the current athletic facilities — built in the mid- to late-1960s — have been in need of improvement for many years. The construction includes moving the new concession stand to the north and west and expanding the building’s restrooms. The ticket booth will be moved closer to the parking area. The new facilities are scheduled to be completed by mid-October. The construction bids were awarded Monday by the Marquette school board.
