Kayakers go around lake

MARQUETTE — Brian Castillo and Alissa Weitz left their jobs and families for 10 weeks for one purpose: to see Lake Superior — all of it.

Castillo, who grew up in Madison, Wis., and Weitz, who grew up in Dubuque, Iowa, are taking 10 weeks to circumnavigate Lake Superior in two 18-foot sea kayaks. They recently stopped in Marquette on their 1,300-mile journey around the big lake.

The duo left Marquette’s Lower Harbor Tuesday afternoon on their way to their next stop, AuTrain.
