2/25/12 LSSU at NMU hockey line charts

February 25, 2012 - Matt Wellens

The Northern Michigan University hockey team closes out the regular season against Upper Peninsula rival Lake Superior State at 7:35 p.m. tonight at the Berry Events Center.

It’s a must-win game for the Lakers and Wildcats, who can both lock up home ice in the first round of the CCHA playoffs with a win tonight. If NMU loses, it heads on the road next weekend. LSSU can lose, but would need some help.

As for NCAA tournament implications, it’s a must win for both teams. NMU is 13th in the USCHO.com PairWise Rankings while LSSU is 21st.

Northern now holds a 2-1 lead in the Cappo Cup series against LSSU, plus an 11-9 goal advantage. NMU won on Friday, 6-2, and split with LSSU in Sault Ste. Marie earlier in the year.

Being senior night, Reid Ellingson will get the start in goal over Jared Coreau.

The Lakers will be without Domenic Monardo, who left Friday night with an injury. Kyle Jean is suspended for tonight’s game after taking a facemasking penalty on Friday.

Below are the rest of the line charts for both the Wildcats and Lakers. For updates from tonight's game, follow along on Twitter at @mattwellens
