NMU releases fall schedules: Wildcat football faces loaded schedule ... again
March 4, 2013 - Matt Wellens
MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University athletic department released fall sports schedules for three teams Monday — football, volleyball and soccer.
The football schedule remains incomplete with a non-conference opponent yet to be determined in Week 1. In GLIAC play, NMU will host Findlay, Ohio Dominican for homecoming, Hillsdale, Wayne State for Family Day/Band Day and Northwood for Senior Day.
The Wildcats travel to Ashland, Michigan Tech, Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley State and Ferris State.
The Wildcat football team opens at home for the first two weeks of GLIAC play against Findlay and ODU and closes the regular season at SVSU and Ferris.
For the second-straight season, NMU plays the top three finishers — Ashland, ODU, Findlay — in the weaker GLIAC South Division, though two of the three games are in Marquette rather than Ohio.
The NMU soccer team hosts eight games in Marquette in 2013, including Minnesota-Crookston, Michigan Tech, Bemidji State, Lake Erie, Northwood, Saginaw Valley State, Ferris State and Grand Valley State.
The Wildcat volleyball team has nine GLIAC home contests, plus the Wildcat Open on Sept. 13-14 in Marquette, featuring Bemidji State, Minnesota-Crookston, Quincy and Lake Superior State.
