NMU Hockey Series Snapshot (Fat Tuesday Special): Huskies, Wildcats will eat each others’ brains
February 12, 2013 - Matt Wellens
MARQUETTE — Welcome to the Fat Tuesday edition of the NMU Hockey Series Snapshot, where we are full on brains, not paczki this year.
See, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, including Houghton and Marquette, was attacked by zombies last night after the bodies of the dead rose from their graves and attacked the living.
We were told not to approach or apprehend these bodies because they were considered extremely dangerous, but you know Yoopers. We’re a feisty group and won’t go quietly.
We were angry these bodies of the dead rose from their graves, and interrupted “The Bachelor,” so we fought with all our might.
But we lost. Now we too are all zombies, and while that may sadden or even frighten you, think of it this way:
The Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech hockey game tonight at 7:07 p.m. at John MacInnes Student Ice Arena in Houghton is going to be awesome.
If you remember the first meeting between the non-zombified Wildcats and Huskies, it ended with a bang when NMU freshman forward Cohen Adair and Tech freshman forward Alex Petan squared off in a heated bout.
That was when Petan and Adair had their brains, before the Great U.P. Zombie War. Now with no brains and a thirst for flesh, these two young corpses should really be fun to watch as they tear each other limb from limb.
Tonight is a night in the Tech-Northern rivalry we may never forget ... or a showdown we would have never forgotten, if we still had our brains ... but we don’t ... wow, MacInnes could be really dead tonight ...
Meanwhile, Northern is coming off of a split with the CCHA’s fourth-place team in Ferris State.
Game notes for Northern Michigan can be found here.
Michigan Tech game notes can be found here.
If you can’t be in Houghton, Tech offers a live video stream that costs a hefty $12 per game.
The Point 100.3 FM offers a free audio stream on its website as well with Dave Danis on the call. That’s a lot cheaper than $12.
I’ll be in Houghton this evening, so give me a follow on Twitter for updates and analysis before, during and after the game. Should I land in Twitter jail due to too much tweeting, switch over to my Facebook page for updates.
