Quick hits: NMU hockey ranked in both national polls, Adair honored by CCHA

October 15, 2012 - Matt Wellens

MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University hockey team not only swept the Wisconsin Badgers in Green Bay over the weekend. The Wildcats replaced Bucky in the national polls.

Northern sits at No. 15 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Top 15 poll and No. 17 in the Top 20 poll after being left out of both polls a week ago. The Badgers were dropped from both rankings after being No. 15 in both polls last week.

In the USCHO poll, NMU is tied with Harvard, which hasn’t played a game yet, at No. 17 after both schools totaled 213 points in voting.

Adair honored by CCHA

NMU forward Cohen Adair was named the CCHA Freshman of the Week after scoring a goal in both victories over the Badgers. Friday’s goal in the third period was the game-winner while Saturday’s tied the game at 1-1. Adair also scored in the exhibition against Brock University on Oct. 7.
