VIDEO: 10/13/12 NMU Hockey Report, postgame press conferences from Wildcats’ 4-2 win over Wisconsin

October 14, 2012 - Matt Wellens

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. — The Northern Michigan University hockey team finished off a weekend sweep of the Wisconsin Badgers with a 4-2 win on Saturday at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon, Wis.

NMU senior forward Matt Thurber was the topic of discussion after adding a goal and assist to the statistics he’s piled up against his former team and I appropriately led off my game recap and NMU Hockey Report with him.

NMU head coach Walt Kyle made a special point to highlight Thurber’s weekend in his postgame press conference.

Thurber, a native of Beaver Dam, Wis. more of less downplayed the significance of the victory over the Badgers in his home state. He did make a point to thanks his fans, friends and family on Twitter after the game.

Of course, we all had to get the thoughts of Wisconsin coach Mike Eaves on the four assists and goal Thurber posted in three wins over the Badgers the past two seasons. Eaves elected not to walk past the NMU locker room to the Resch Center media room, so we crowed around the Badgers’ coach next to a service elevator instead.
