All you need to know about the Northern Michigan University 2012 fall sports season

August 30, 2012 - Matt Wellens

MARQUETTE — After a month of preseason practices, a few scrimmages and even more practices, the 2012 Northern Michigan University sports season gets underway tonight with a pair of football matches.

The Wildcat women’s soccer team kicks off the fall sports season on its home pitch with a 5 p.m. match against Minnesota-Duluth. If you can’t be at the match — the NMU Soccer Field is located behind the Superior Dome — follow along on Twitter for live updates.

At 7 p.m. in Ohio, the NMU football team opens its season and GLIAC play at Findlay. Like those of you not in Ohio, I will be tuning into 100.3 FM WUPT for the broadcast while also posting my thoughts through out the game on Twitter.

If you have a question during the game, toss a tweet my way and include the hashtag #nmufb.

On Friday, the Wildcat women’s cross country team competes at 3 p.m. in the Michigan Tech Opener in Houghton. The volleyball ’Cats play four matches in the Ferris State tournament on Friday and Saturday in downstate Big Rapids.

Below you will find all the key Mining Journal stories published over the last month previewing the 2012 Wildcat fall sports season. Happy reading.
