Letters to the Editor: Energy infrastructure must be protected

To the Journal editor:

I believe that our energy infrastructure in the state has been taken for granted by some of our residents.

We depend on our state’s infrastructure for many things including our jobs. Businesses are directly impacted by the costs they need to pay to meet their energy needs and without an adequate infrastructure for transporting energy resources, affordable energy would not be possible.

Our energy infrastructure is critical to the state and should not taken for granted. Michigan’s network of oil and natural gas pipelines has safely transported our energy resources from wells to refineries to our families and small businesses.

I believe it’s important we all understand the benefits of our state’s pipeline infrastructure on our daily lives.

No sector of our economy is spared from the need of safe and reliable energy. And if we want our existing businesses to grow and expand, their energy needs must be met.

Business growth will bring more jobs to our communities and better stable incomes for our working families, leading to a stronger overall economy.

But this is not going to be possible unless we protect our state’s current energy infrastructure.
