Dispatchers provide key services

To the Journal editor:

Each year at this time, we recognize the important work of 9-1-1 emergency dispatchers. The week of April 9 was National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. In Marquette County there are 9-1-1 dispatchers working at Central Dispatch, the State Police Regional Dispatch, NMU Public Safety, and Marquette Police Department.

The dispatchers are the first “first responders” in the public safety network. Any time a person needs police, fire, EMS, Rescue, or other emergency services, the call to 9-1-1 activates this network to get help to those in need.

While it is nice to rely on those services, please keep all public safety personnel in your prayers that they will be safe, effective and appreciated.

Marquette County Central Dispatch Policy Board
