Letters to the Editor: The way of the Lord

To the Journal editor:

We’re just coming out of the holiday season, as a lot of people call it. Lots of shopping and buying gifts. Seems it started around late September.

It’s not the way I remembered back in the 1950s. Times have sure changed. Back then, not a lot of stores and none open 24 hours a day. Usually Christmas started well after Thanksgiving and the focus was on the coming birth of Jesus Christ. He came into the world to show us the great love God has for all people.

A time for people to worship and gather together to realize it’s the best gift we receive when accepting Jesus as our savior. Earthly gifts last only for a time.

God’s gift is eternal life in heaven. One has to read the whole story that’s written in the Holy Bible. It’s the greatest story ever told.

So for me, it’s being thankful to be on the spiritual path. I was caught up in the worldly way for a time. Seems I did not get the satisfaction from getting more material goods, money, etc.

Those will soon pass. With the gift of Christ comes the love and peace that passes all understanding and most of all to be with Jesus after my time on earth has ended. That’s a gift money can’t buy.

One has to accept the gift God has given us in Christ. I hope you will.
