Great run cited

To the Journal editor:

March 14, 1977 was one of the greatest days of my life, except for my wedding to Sharon and the birth of our 5 children; Joe, Frank, Janina, Mandy Sue and Jeff. Owning my own business has been outstanding and rewarding.

The fun part was teaching young people how to become successful and seeing them move on into their own careers and also making the business successful and giving our customers a happy and great dining experience over my 37 years of operation.

Many things have changed over time, wage increases, rising food and other costs, increased taxes and a changing economy. These things take a toll on any business. It is no longer fun when you are fighting these battles on all sides. If anyone thinks that rising costs are no big deal they should think again!

The reason for closing my restaurant was strictly a sound business decision. I would like to thank my partner, Ed, who stuck by me during the good, the bad and the ugly. Thank you to all my past employees who I had a chance to work with over the years.

A big thank you to my current crew and those who have worked with me for many years. I won’t start naming names. You all know who you are!

Last but not least, thanks to all the customers who made it possible for our employees to get a weekly paycheck. Unfortunately, we didn’t have as many as we needed in the last 5 years.

I want to say thank you to everyone, you will all be special to me always.
