‘Grease’ provides great opportunity to enjoy local theater

We have heard nothing but rave reviews for the current Lake Superior Theatre production in which “Grease” is the word.

And we’re confident that others who have heard the same will be snapping up tickets to the musical, which will be presented Tuesday-Saturday for the current week, next week and the following week, which means people have until July 29 to take a trip back into the1950s with Sandy and Danny, the Pink Ladies and the rest of the colorful characters at Rydell High.

A review published in The Mining Journal earlier this week by local actor and director Martyn Martello said, in part, “Treat yourself and your family to an evening of live theater. ‘Grease’ is the perfect place to start. Fun. Great music. Fast paced. You are sure to enjoy.”

Lake Superior Theatre is a community gem. What a wonderful experience it is to go down to the shore of the big lake into the former boathouse which is now a theater. The view of Marquette Harbor is beautiful and the talent presented on stage is absolutely amazing.

If you haven’t been to an LST production previously, we hope you will take a trip there and have a rollickingly fun evening being witness to a wonderful production of a musical that’s become one of America’s favorites.

Martello included ticket information with his review: “Tickets for ‘Grease’ and all the other shows this season are available at all NMU EZ Tickets outlets, online at nmu.edu/tickets, or by phone at 906-227-1032. If all online tickets have been sold, Lake Superior Theatre does have a wait list.

“You can get more information about that at 906-227-7625. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Make sure you plan ahead as you do have a little walk from the Lower Harbor Park parking lot to get to the theater.”

If you can’t make it to “Grease,” there are other productions this summer including “Steel Magnolias,” “Schoolhouse Rock Jr.” and “Superior Cabaret” that certainly will be entertaining.
