Karen Antilla

MARQUETTE, MI – Karen Joyce Antilla, 70, of Marquette, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Norlite Nursing Center.

She was born August 4, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late Jimmie and Dorothy (Sherman) Collison. She was a 1966 graduate of Wayne Memorial High School in Wayne, MI and attended NMU from 1991 to 1995 earning an Associate’s degree in general business.

Karen pursued a histology technician career at a hospital in Wayne, MI and worked in that field for 16 years.

She moved to the Marquette area in 1989 and was employed as a nanny for an area family until the children were grown.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as the nursery coordinator. She enjoyed scrapbooking in her free time.

Karen is survived by her children, Kenneth (Stacy) Antilla of St. Paul, MN, Tammy (Matthew) Lowe of Forest Hills, NY, Matthew Jewell of Marquette and April Robinson of Marquette; grandchildren, Alex and Stephanie Jackson, Brianna and Jonathan Lowe, Evey and Emry Erhart, Evan and Elly Robinson, Nathan Jewell, Preston and Owen Wickstrom; a brother, Robert Kent of Lower Michigan; uncle, Gordon (Lois) Breeding of Alpena, MI; and a brother-in-law, Roger (Mary) Antilla of Bruce Crossing, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald Antilla.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 2 to 3 pm at the First Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will be held at 3 pm in the church with Rev. Nicholas Cammarata officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in the Bruce Crossing Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Karen’s family.
