Sharron Ann ‘Sherri’ Seibert

GRAND MARAIS – MARQUETTE, MI – Sharron Ann “Sherri” Seibert, age 72, of Marquette, and former Grand Marais resident, entered eternal life Thursday, December 6, 2018, shortly after admittance to UP Health System – Marquette.

Born September 28, 1946, in Marquette, a daughter of Vernon and Sylvia (Sharron) Bleckiner, Sherri was raised in Marquette and graduated from Graveraet High School. She then moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she attended cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician. It was during this time that she met her future husband, James Seibert. The couple was married at St. Michael Catholic Church, Marquette, on November 23, 1968. They resided in various places before settling in Grand Marais for the last 34 years. Two weeks ago, the couple relocated to Marquette. While her children were growing up, Sherri was a stay at home mom who balanced her roles of wife, mother, and homemaker. After the children were grown, she entered the work force, owning and operating Sherri’s Beauty Salon, owning and operating the general store, and serving as a campground attendant at Woodland Park, all in Grand Marais. Sherri possessed a strong work ethic, was assertive in her thoughts and beliefs, and was known for being a bit sassy from time to time, but in a fun way. As time went on, and grandchildren were added to the family tree, Sherri found renewed enjoyment in watching them mature, mentoring them, and challenging them in a game of Rummy. She loved her husband and children, but loved the grandchildren in an even more special way. A great provider, Sherri always put her loved ones first and provided advice and a listening ear when needed. She was a humble person who had a kind and charitable heart, and was a supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In her leisure moments, Sherri enjoyed reading, games, crafting stained glass, participating in BINGO, and playing Rummy, especially with the grandkids, and was relentless in her desire to always win. A loving wife, mother, and devoted grandmother, Sherri is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Seibert of Marquette; her children, Michelle (David Wiegand) Aboussleman, Paul Seibert, and Sean (Michelle) Seibert all of Marquette; her grandkids, Lauren (Randy) Wenzel, Morgan Seibert, Brady Aboussleman, Justin Aboussleman, Desirae (fiance, Jerad) Seibert, Gabriel Seibert, and one on the way; brothers, John (Jen) Bleckiner and Roger (Jennifer) Bleckiner both of Marquette; numerous nieces and nephews.

Sherri was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Janice Bleckiner; and brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Claudia Bleckiner. Honoring Sherri’s request, private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
