Valentina A. ‘Val’ Walline

ISHPEMING, MI – Valentina A. “Val” Walline, age 84, longtime National Mine resident passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.

Val was born November 12, 1933 in Princeton, MI the daughter of Margaret (Fonzasin) Misale, and grew up in Ishpeming. In 1953 she married Richard Walline and moved to National Mine. Richard preceded her in death in 1987. Val was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and enjoyed listing to the Catholic Mass via the radio in her later years. Val was an avid reader.

Survivors include 3 sons – Herb (Kelly) Walline of Ishpeming and Richard (Bev) Walline of Troy and Francis (Karen) Connors of Ishpeming; sisters – Theresa Nolen, Carmela Butler, Rose L’Huillier, Anna (Dean) Territo and Cathy (Jim) Masiakowski and brothers – Joseph (Judy) Misale Jr., Peter (Joyce) Misale, Anthony (Nancy) Misale Sr., Michael F. Misale, Bruno (Paula) Misale, Frank (Nancy) Misale; 7 grandchildren – Michael (Jess) Walline, Jamie (Lisa) Erickson, Amanda (Dan) Campbell, Brandee (David) Sandy, Angie (Jason) Juhola, Elijah Connors and Sarah Connors; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, along with her special friend Nancy Leaf.

She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Kaylee Walline, brothers Carmelo, Vito, Sarafeno, Salvatore and Rosario.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 from 11:00am till Noon at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Saturday with the Rev. Fr. Ryan Ford to officiate. A potluck luncheon will follow in the K/D Hall following the services.
