TRENARY/FLUSHING, MI – William “Bill” Kenneth LaCombe of Trenary and Flushing, Michigan died Friday, August 10, 2018 surrounded with the love of those most important to him, both near and far. He was born 97 years ago in Munising, Michigan to John and Henrietta LaCombe. They, with his cherished five brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. Bill was also preceded in death by the love of his life and wife, Susan and his son and best buddy, Dennis and infant son, Michael.

He is survived by his dear sister, Vivian Rousseau, many loving nieces and nephews, and his devoted children–sons, Bill (Anna), Gary, Patrick (Cathie) LaCombe; and daughters, Margaret Ann (Harlon) Rose and Cecile (the late Paul) Petro. Bill was the proud grandpa to Eric (Becca), Craig (Fumi), Anna, Ben, and Thomas LaCombe; Duncan (Kelly) Robinson; Nicolas (Skylar) and Elliot Petro; Erin (Bill) Cooper; Christopher (Diana) Rose; and 8 great-grandchildren.

As a young man, Bill proudly served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He especially enjoyed his 30 years as Postmaster in Trenary,MI. Bill was also a lifelong Detroit Tigers and Lions fan and was a talented woodworker. While his loss is immeasurable, we are grateful for his amazing endurance and loving life. To those who knew Bill, he set an example of how to face life’s challenges with acceptance, grace, and dignity.

A funeral mass will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., in-state at 9:00 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, Trenary. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to St. Rita Catholic Church. A special thank you is extended to the aides and staff at Cranberry Park Assisted Living in Clio, MI and Cardinal Hospice.
