Larry D. Paquette

REPUBLIC, Larry D. Paquette, age 63, of 9842 Wahlstroms Road, Republic passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Baraga Co. Memorial Hospital in L’Anse following an apparent heart attack at the Ojibwa Casino in Baraga.

Larry was born July 1, 1955 in Ishpeming the son of the late Willard O. and Doris E. (Stahl) Paquette. He grew up in Michigamme and was a graduate of the Republic-Michigamme High school, class of 1975. Larry had worked as a laborer at the Connor Lumber Co. and then at Erickson’s in L’Anse for several years prior to his retirement. During his working years he had resided in L’Anse and then spent some years in Michigamme prior to moving to Republic to care for his sister Yvonne.

Larry loved to play BINGO and trips to the Casino to play the “Slot”, along with family card and dice games. He will be remembered fondly by many for his acts of kindness which included driving many to take care of there shopping needs. He will be missed by many, including his close friend Debbie Skytta.

Survivors include 3 sisters – Yvonne Paquette of Republic, Trudy (Ken) Seppanen of Michigamme, Stacey (Brent Kovar) Paquette of Menominee; brother Willard Paquette of Sheldon, IA; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis Paquette and niece Amber Kulju. The Paquette family will greet relatives and friends from 5 until 6pm on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic. A celebration of life service will follow at 6:00pm with Sister Margey Schmelzle to officiate.
