ISHPEMING, MI – Joseph G. Argall, Sr., age 81, longtime Ishpeming resident passed away Wednesday August 15, 2018 at the Trillium Hospice House in Marquette while in the loving care of his family and the U.P. Home Health and Hospice.

Joseph was born in Ishpeming on December 8, 1936, son of the late Russell and Lottie (Bess) Argall. He attended Ishpeming Public Schools before serving the country in the United States Navy. While in the Navy he was stationed in the Marshall Islands during the testing of Atomic Bombs on Operation Redwing and Operation WigWam. Joe worked for the LS & I railroad for over 30 years as an Engineer, Brakeman and Conductor.

Joe was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Ishpeming Elks Lodge, Ishpeming Booster Club where he earned Fan of the Year and was a proud Hematite supporter, and Pioneer Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed time spent at his camp, which was his pride and joy, on CR 581. He was also an avid Packers fan, sharing that passion with his children.

Joe is survived by 3 children: Joseph G. (Susie) Argall, Jr. of Gladstone, David (Mary) Argall of Coleman, WI, Terri (Karen Brin) Argall of Marquette, sister: Suzy (Paul) Heilala of Ishpeming, 6 grandchildren: Brad (Sarah) Argall, Jamie (Tracey Hammar) Argall, Lucas (Hannah) Argall, Jordan (Andrea Miller) Argall, Matt Argall, Katie (Ryan Annear) Argall, 6 great grandchildren, and numerous special nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his very special friends: Tony Ombrello and Bill Fredy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Russell Argall, 3 sisters: Catherine Leitz, Jean Steede, Nancy St. Aubin, and his faithful companions Rumble & Jessie.

Joseph’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Saturday August 18, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Hank Steede (nephew) to officiate. A fellowship luncheon will follow at 4:00 PM at the Ishpeming Elks Lodge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the U.P. Home Health and Hospice Foundation, 510 Mather Ave., Ishpeming, MI 49849 or the Trillium Hospice House, 1144 Northland Dr., Marquette, MI 49855.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Angels at UP HH&H and Trillium House for the outstanding care, love, and support given to Joe and the family.
