HUMBOLDT TWP., MI – Ellen E. Mueller, age 88 Humboldt Township resident passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 at UP Health System Marquette where she was a patient for the past 4 days.

Ellen was born February 12, 1930 at home on the family homestead known at Finn Farm in National Mine to Henry and Fannie (Hill) Kiiskila. She graduated from National Mine High School, class of 1948 and attended Northern Michigan University. Ellen served for 4 years in the US Navy WAVES. She worked as a legal secretary while in the service and afterward for a short period of time. Ellen was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming and a former member of Our Redeemer Church in Champion. She had a love for music, she played the organ, autoharp and enjoyed singing. Ellen enjoyed cross country skiing the winter months in the UP which her and her late husband Erwin “often referred the UP to Gods country.”

Ellen is survived by a brother Paul (Anna) Kiiskila of Round Lake, IL, 2 grandsons: Kenneth (Mandi) Mueller Jr., of Mundelein, IL and Kevin (Danielle) Mueller of Lake Villa, IL, 2 great grandchildren: Valerie and Gairett Mueller along with numerous nieces, nephews and close friend and caretaker, Albert Worth.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Erwin, a son Kenneth Sr., 6 brothers, and a sister.

Ellen’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday August 20, 2018 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating.

Interment will take place immediately following the service at the Humboldt Township Cemetery where Military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 380.
