Dorothy Waters

ISHPEMING, MI- Dorothy A. Waters, age 91 of 524 Poplar St. Ishpeming passed away Wednesday June 13, 2018 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming while in the loving care of her family, staff at MCMCF and U.P. Home Health and Hospice.

Dorothy was born October 15, 1926 in Ishpeming to William and Anna (Tapani) Hemmila. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1944. In her younger years she worked as a seamstress at the H.W. Gossard Company.

Dorothy enjoyed knitting and sewing. She played in local bowling, horseshoe and softball leagues and was a ski jumper. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Am Vet’s and V.F.W. Auxiliaries. Dorthy enjoyed volunteering at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, with over 2,000 hours of service.

Dorothy is survived by 3 children: Judith Edwards of Max Meadows, VA, Regina (Randy) Magstadt of Maple Grove, MN and Reginald Waters of Ishpeming, 3 grandchildren: Desarae Edwards, Randy Edwards and Ryland (Briana) Edwards, 3 great grandchildren: DJ Williams, Annette Edwards and Landyn Edwards, a sister in law Carol Waters along with nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Reginald in 1996, a daughter Janet Waters and 2 brothers: William and Heikki Hemmila.

Dorothy’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00 on Monday June 18, 2018 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Albert Barchue officiating. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

A] luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Pallbearers will be Desarae, Randy and Ryland Edwards, Bill Hemmila, John and Matt Waters.
