Nora Holman

MARQUETTE, MI – Nora E. Holman, 93, of Woodland Ave., Marquette, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 19th, 2018 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Nora was born May 22, 1925 in Negaunee to Joseph and Ethel Mae (Davey) Annear and grew up with her five sisters and brother on Snow Street in old Negaunee. She was an active Campfire Girl for many years. Nora graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1943, and was employed as a seamstress for the Satin Manufacturing Company in Negaunee.

Nora was united in marriage to Richard G. ‘Shorty’ Holman on April 19th, 1947 and together they raised two sons, Kerry and Joe. Although the family moved to Marquette to allow the best opportunities available for Kerry’s education, she still always thought of Negaunee as her home.

In her free time, Nora enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She was an excellent gardener, working in her yard into her 90’s. She baked traditional Cornish pasties every Saturday morning.

Mrs. Holman was a devout member of Marquette Hope – First United Methodist Church in Marquette. She also enjoyed being a member of a bowling team with her sisters.

Surviving are her son, Joseph Holman of Ishpeming; devoted friend and caregiver, Shari Brugman of Marquette; her grandson, Joseph Gordon Holman II, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gordon in 2002; her son Kerry D. Holman in 2015; five sisters: Marion Annear, Jean Manfra, Gail Evans, Phyllis Barker and Corinne Hoiem; and her brother, Joseph Annear.

Nora’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Marquette County Medical Care Facility for their tireless dedication and compassionate care.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, June 25th at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Kristi Hintz officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Nora’s memory to Baycliff Health Camp.
