James D. ‘Jim’ Corlett

SAN DIEGO, CA – 1953-2018 – Jim Corlett, 64, died Thursday, April 19, at his home in San Diego, California, in the presence of his wife Linda & members of the local Hospice group.

He had been in ill health for a number of months prior to his death.

Jim grew up on Palmer, attended Negaunee schools and graduated from NHS with honors “Class of 1971”. He went on to earn a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from MTU. He began his working career with SOHIO in Cleveland where became involved in the energy industry. During his time in Cleveland, he met & married his wife, the farmer Linda Blaha. Also while in Cleveland, he enrolled & earned a MBA degree at Baldwin — Wallace College.

After some ears, he joined the Reynor Corp. & relocated to Chicago. He became the foreign representative for Reynor and traveled the world many times introducing new combustion technology in many countries. All his flying time earned him the distinction of being a member of American Airlines “Million Miler” group.

In 1993, Jim accepted a position with SEMPRA and relocated to San Diego & became involved in re-newable energy. He & Linda purchased a home there and he lived the rest of his life in San Diego. He retired from SEMPRA in 2011 and enjoyed the San Diego climate thoroughly.

Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda, father Dale Corlett, stepmother Mollie Corlett, his siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins too numerous to list. Also his best friend & classmate Dave Danielson of Negaunee.

He was pre-deceased by his birth mother, Lorraine (Karvela) Corlett and his grandparents.

In accordance with Jim’s wishes, there will be no services. When death was imminent, he pre-arranged to have his body donated to the University of California, San Diego Medical School.
