Amy Lynn Benson

MUNISING, MI – Amy Lynn Benson, age 32, of Muskegon and formerly of Munising, died unexpectedly at her home on January 15, 2018.

She was born and raised in Munising and graduated from Negaunee High School in 2004. Amy was a talented bartender and worked at different bars throughout her career. She loved helping people and was a kind and generous person. Her cat, Ahkey, and two sharks were her babies for the past fifteen years. They have been taken in and will be cared for by family members. Some of Amy’s favorite things included tubing down the river with her friends. She loved the Upper Peninsula especially spending time at the family camp, swimming at Paradise, and walking through her mother’s garden. Amy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shooting pool, dressing up for Halloween, and lounging in the hammock in her mom’s yard. She loved the beach and had a passion for stars, be it tattoos, jewelry, or just staring at the night sky. Amy’s loving hugs and beautiful smile will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Amy is survived by her mother – Janet Nesberg; step-father – Ted Nesberg; sisters – Christine Nicholai, Laura Nicholai, and Janel Benson; step-sister – Penny (Jeremy) Moore; step-brother – Ty Nesberg; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Amy was preceded in death by her father – Peter Benson and grandparents – Verland “Benny” and Helen Benson, Edythe Kessler, and Sam Hughes.
