Patricia I. Zuba
SKANDIA TOWNSHIP, MI – Patricia I. Zuba, age 79, passed away Saturday November 18, 2017 at U.P. Health Systems Marquette.
Pat was born November 7, 1938, in Southampton, New York, a daughter of Virgil and Marion (Bennett) King. She graduated from East Hampton High School and married Robert Davis from Vermont. The couple later divorced. She married Paul Zuba from Niagara Falls, New York, while he was serving in the US Air Force in Westhampton, New York. They resided there for a time before he was transferred to his last duty assignment at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base. Both loved fishing and hunting and the outdoor opportunities the area had to offer and decided to make it their home. Pat’s first job was with the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department. Small in stature, she was a force to be reckoned with.
She quickly gained the respect and admiration of administration, fellow employees, and “guests at the jail”. She was genuine and you could take her at face value and never be disappointed. Possessed with a wonderful sense of humor, Pat kept the troops laughing. At work, she was conscientious and helpful.
Pat was a true, kind, caring person and loved her family and friends. She never put on airs and didn’t try to be someone she wasn’t. In her leisure moments she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, Seek and Find, and was talented at crocheting beautiful tablecloths, afghans, and doilies. She was very loyal and supportive of her friends and you never knew when she would opt for a spontaneous road trip.
Her family and friends all agree she was an all around good person who made a true mark on this world and will be greatly missed.
Pat is survived by her sister, Sandra Vorpahl of Amagansett, NY; her brother, Daniel King of Hampstead, NC; nieces and nephews, William (Mary) Vorpahl, Jr., Erik King, and Anthony (Candice) King; and many friends, among them her adopted family in Michigan, her dear friend and companion, Mike Sandback, Skip and Cheryl Henderson, Gloria and John Maki, Jessica, Greg, and Zachary Franklin, Kris Johnson, Jay and Ruth Crist, Susan Sundblad, Bud and Sue Girard-Jackson; and Mike Quayle.
Honoring Pat’s request, no services will be scheduled.
