Frances Ann Knoodle
NORTH FORT MYERS, FL – MARQUETTE, MI – Frances Ann Knoodle, age 76, of North Fort Myers, Florida (formerly of Marquette) passed away peacefully November 14, 2017 at the Hope Hospice Home of Cape Coral, Florida.
Fran was born August 18, 1941 in Bay City, Michigan to Margaret and Roy Knoodle. At age 16 she moved to Florida. After high school Fran initially worked as a switch board operator for Bell Telephone Company. On returning to Michigan to be near her family, Fran also worked in banking, insurance, and health care (at Marquette General Hospital). Fran volunteered at the First Presbyterian Church (in adult daycare) and with UP Home Health and Hospice.
More recently she became a Master Gardener at the University of Florida, where she volunteered at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. She was also a Toast Master.
Fran was energetic and lived a healthy and vibrant life until her passing. She walked daily, did water aerobics, and hot yoga.
Her smile and gentle spirit were a warmth and blessing to her friends, family, and loved ones. People often described her as a sweet person who always had a kind word to say.
Fran is survived by her two daughters Melinda Higby Mozader of Marquette, MI., and Jennifer (Mark) Zuithoff of Sterling, Il.; her grandchildren Justin (Doris) and Sabrina Mozader, Sawyer, Laney, and Chance Zuithoff; and her great-grandchildren Michael, Elijah, Sage, Zoey, Elizabeth Mozader, and Haylee Emard; and her sister Sandy Knoodle of Bay City, MI.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Margaret (Carney) Knoodle; her former husbands Edward Higby and Gerald “Red” Stimac; an infant son Gerald Stimac; and her sister Alice and brother-in-law John Witson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held in the parlor of the First Presbyterian Church (Marquette) this Thursday, November 30, from 10:00 AM. to 1:00 PM. The family invites you to join them in the sharing of memories, conversations, and a light reception.
