Richard P. Tessmer

GWINN, MI – Richard Paul Tessmer, 48, of Gwinn, passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 13, 2017 at UP Health System Marquette.

Rich was born June 20, 1969 in La Grange, Illinois to Alfred Paul and Monica Jane (O’Mara) Tessmer and grew up in Bolingbrook where he graduated from Bolingbrook High School. He was employed as a truck driver and also worked in the construction industry. Rich was a member of the Carpenters Union in Chicago and also belonged to the Teamsters Union Local 731 in Burr Ridge, IL.

In his free time, Rich enjoyed cooking and serving family, friends and neighbors.

He was a dog lover and was preceded in death by his beloved dog Brutus.

Surviving are his son, Brandon Richard Hamblen of Yorkville, IL and his grandson Noah Hamblen; parents, Paul and Monica Tessmer; two sisters, Brenda (John) Propeck of Lake Villa, IL and Diana (Doug) Wolfe of Sugar Grove, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an uncle, Donald Tessmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, October 20th at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Allen Mott officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends in the Baraga Room at St. Anthony’s for one hour prior to Mass, and also at a luncheon reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be directed in Rich’s memory to 107 Caribou St., Gwinn, MI 49841.
