Priscilla Lydon (nee Kopeski-Jandron)

PRISCILLA LYDON

MEDWAY, MA – Priscilla started her life as the tomboyish older daughter of Edward and Rita Kopeski. She was the older sister to Paula (Leonaud) Boutin and Wayne Kopeski. You may have all heard the stories of her determination and drive to succeed in every goal that she set for herself. In High School, she excelled in both basketball (4 year letter winner) and softball.

While attending nursing school after high school, she decided to put that career on hold so she could get married and raise a family. Even though becoming a nurse was a passion of hers, the opportunity to raise and support a family became far more important. She would go on to devote the rest of her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren

Priscilla’s greatest success story was when she decided that she was going to go back and finish the nursing degree that she started way back in 1959. She decided, at the age of 54, she would face the challenge of obtaining her nursing license and in April of 1998, Priscilla graduated from Northern Michigan University and was hired to work at Marquette General Hospital. It was at MGH that she excelled as an LPN on the Oncology ward. That was her true passion and calling in life. She had a natural gift when it came to assisting cancer patients as they struggled with the challenges of their cancer treatments.

Ironically, the final chapter of her life occurred in March of 2014 when she was diagnosed with cancer herself. From the first day of her diagnosis, she took on the challenge to beat cancer. Over the next three years, using 11 chemo protocols, she was a cancer warrior. She never complained or dwelled on the negative. She kept a positive attitude at all times. She relied on her experience as a nurse to do what it took to beat the odds that were handed to her. In the end, she never gave up. She just ran out of time.

Two of the most valuable gifts that she passed on to her family were her work ethic and her inability to take no for an answer. She also left a legacy of determination and toughness, while at the same time being a role model of kindness and compassion to all that knew her.

Priscilla was predeceased by her husband Tim Lydon and her parents Edward and Rita Kopeski.

She leaves behind her daughter Kim (Bill) Jacobson, son Richard Jandron, Jr. and his partner Kevin Ennis, Scott Jandron and his fiance Diane Savolainen, step daughter Dede (Jim) Mill, step son John Lydon, sister Paula (Leonaud) Boutin, brother Wayne Kopeski. Granddaughters Jenny (Kurt) Johnson, Melanie (Brandon) Monka, Katie (Dustin) Copeskey, Autumn Jacobson, Taylor Mill, Emily Lydon. Grandsons Matthew Jandron, Matthew Mill, Jake Lydon, several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and her special canine companion Angel.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial celebration at the Negaunee Elks on Saturday, September 30 from 5-8 pm.
