MARQUETTE, MI – Michael Rose, 59, of Marquette, died peacefully at home from natural causes on Monday, September 11, 2017.

He was born March 14, 1958 in Marquette, Michigan. Mike graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended college for a short while. He played hockey for several years and made the former Palestra his second home. Mike retired from many years of work in the oil fields of Colorado and New Mexico.

He enjoyed his retirement spending time out fishing with friends and family and enjoyed a good bargain at Saturday rummage sales. He also spent time in Florida enjoying the winter weather and an occasional game of golf. Mike was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed umpiring for local ball teams and tournaments.

There are many people who will remember Mike for his acts of kindness. It seems like he always went out of his way looking for someone who needed a helping hand.

He is survived by his three children, Jesse Rose of Marquette, Tyler Rose of Carlsbad, NM, and Tristin Rose of Albuquerque, NM; four brothers, Robert (Judy) Ingison of Antigo, WI, Dan Rose of Republic, MI, Thomas (Traci) Rose of Republic, MI, and William (Marlene) Rose of Grants, NM; two sisters, Marcia (Thom) Bogdan of Pompano Beach, FL and Jackie (Ruben) McEachern of Marquette, MI; sister-in-law, Donna Rose of Fence Lake, MI. Also surviving are an uncle, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and his first wife, Susan Kloster.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy (Markosky) Rose; brothers, James Rose, Michael Rose Toldness; maternal grandparents, Charles and Bernadette (Dionne) Markosky; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Rose (Yshinski) Rose. A former wife, Lila Rose also precedes him in death.

The Rose family will greet relatives and friends on Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home where a memorial service will be conducted in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. A luncheon will be served in the funeral home following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center, 1192 East Newport Center Drive, Deerfield Beach, FL 33442 in Mr. Rose’s memory.
