Dr. Pryse Henry Duerfeldt

MARQUETTE, MI. – Dr. Pryse Henry Duerfeldt found peace Sunday, July 30, 2017.

Known locally and internationally for his dedication and leadership to Rotary and Sister Cities, Pryse served as a superlative example of community service. Professionally, he had retired as Head of the Psychology Department and Northern Michigan University in 1997, having served since 1972.

Pryse’s love of service was only superceded by his love for his wife of 57 years, Louise, who survives him with their two sons, Morgan and Treacy and their respective families.

In addition to his near superhuman courage, resilience, and strength in meeting adversity, Pryse was known for his love of music, deep relationships, and strong sense of family. People who served with him in the community appreciated his straightforward communication, attention to detail, knowledge, and love for his fellow human beings.

His generosity of self to community and service will be missed. Those wishing to contribute to his memory are encouraged to donate to The Rotary Foundation: (https://my.rotary.org/en/document/memorial-or-tribute-gift-form).
